For years, I have been running and racing while eating a high protein diet, low fat diet - it was hard to ignore all the articles and studies telling up how carbohydrates should be avoided if you wanted to stay lean and fit. I found many of my training runs were difficult and I was unable to log the weekly miles necessary to reach my race goals - I simply just didn't have the energy. I decided to visit Nancy because I knew I needed ehlp with muy diet as I began a very intense and high mileage training schedule (with weeks of 90-100 miles). Nancy created a high carbohydrate diet/guide for me and my goals. I was nervous at first since this was such a huge change - I hadn't eaten this many carbs in my life! But I trusted her expertise and hopped on the carb wagon. I am happy to report that I have felt better in my life! I am faster and have logged hundreds of miles and qualaity workouts with energy to spare. I am so grateful to Nancy for showing me the light - as athletes, we need to fuel our bodies properly and she provided me with everything I needed to reach my race goals. Thank you Nancy!

When I first started seriously distance training in 2008, I had no idea of the role specific nutrition strategies played in long distance running. I'd always tried to eat "healthy", but wanted to learn all I could about proper training--including nutrition--for doing well in the marathon. Curious, I made an appointment with Nancy. She helped me understand the importance of getting not only the correct balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fat for the training level I was following, but also the timing of my nutrition as well. I'm not a believer in 'dieting', but rather believe that how you eat should be a sustainable way of life--with some minor tweaks from time to time. With Nancy's help in the nutrition department, I've had the energy necessary to increase my training load in miles (up to 65 per week), frequency, and intensity, and have a much better understanding of how proper nutrition works for me. Since the first meeting, I've run not only my first marathon, but also three more, including the 2011 Boston Marathon , and I'm looking forward to many more! Many thanks to Nancy for her valuable guidance so far! Donna
